The Good and Bad of Writing Every Day in March #sol17 Day 1

The good thing about writing every day in March is that I will remember how to use my blog.
The bad thing about writing every day in March is that I will forget and neglect many other things in life.

The good thing about writing every day is that I will be a good role model for my students.
The bad thing about writing every day is that I will not have time to grade their papers.

The good thing about writing every day is that I will not have time to grade their papers.
The bad thing about writing every day is that I won’t have time to work out my plan for alternatives to grading.

The good thing about writing is it heals and keeps me sane.

The bad thing about writing…hmmm…

I’ll have to think about that.

  1. I love how you found a six-word memoir in this piece! I have been carrying around a large stack of graded for the past week and now that the March Slice challenge is upon us, I really don’t know how I’m ever going to get them graded. We’re in the same boat there! I like the format of the good thing, bad thing structure. Just started plotting a good thing/bad thing post about having 7 cats! Thanks for the inspiration.

  2. I love this! I love the good/bad format and was so intrigued when I saw it in the Be Inspired section of today’s Daily Call for Slices. You used it perfectly here, and I think you captured my exact feelings for writing every day. It’s definitely a love/hate relationship.

  3. I love the back and forth! I love writing daily. And I’ve somehow found a way to keep it up year round.

  4. First timers become old timers before you know it. I, too, loved the power of the role modeling I felt when I first began – oh the sympathy for students!

  5. I’m so glad you have joined us. Sounds like the goods are outweighing those bads! We are here to celebrate each day with you! Welcome 🙂

  6. I love it: the good… and the bad. I’m glad that “the good” won out at the end.

  7. I have some of those same concerns about my own writing over the course of this month! We can do this! I know I need writing back in my life to help ease some of the everyday stress that life can bring.

  8. Great structure! Going to try this for sure. I am also a first timer and I can relate to how you are feeling. Good luck!

  9. Welcome! So glad to have other first-timers participating with me! Love the dichotomies of “first time-last time.” So creative and inspiring! See you soon 🙂

  10. Oh, what a fun surprise, Elisabeth, Dana, Linsey, Wakeupandwrite, Aileen, Alice, Cheryl, Mrs. Allen and Lanny,

I came home and had dinner, and then when I came back I saw so many comments! I’m a little overwhelmed and very delighted! Thank you for reading my post. I am already inspired by this community, #sol17.

    Blessings,
    Denise

  11. yes to all of the above — and the graphic — especially to trying it out

  12. Love your format as well! The good and bad of it all, but as you quickly found out, this community is what truly makes the writing challenge so special! Keep on finding the good about writing!

  13. Seems the goods outweigh the bads- lucky for us to be able to hear your voice all month. I totally get the push and pull- it will be a super busy month!

  14. Welcome! Love that you tried the good/bad format! Writing daily is so rewarding! Good Luck!

  15. Ha ha! “The bad thing about writing every day is that I will not have time to grade their papers.
The good thing about writing every day is that I will not have time to grade their papers.”

Perfect as I anticipate 28 analytical essays arriving tomorrow …
