Fireplace
In a cast iron box, glowing window
Ignites warmth around and within
Orange coals, dancing flames flow
In a cast iron box, glowing window
As I sit in quiet, you stage a show
In sweet serenity, this day begins
In a cast iron box, glowing window
Ignites warmth around and within
Today has been one for stunning imagery among Slicers. I love this one “glowing window…you stage a show” such a sweet way to think of that “cast iron box” that both protects us from the wildness of unchecked flames yet harnesses the warmth and “serenity” they provide with their framed performance.
Thank you, Trish! I like your reminder of “the wildness of unchecked flames” and the “serenity they provide with their framed performance.” Your comment sounds like another poem.
We don’t have wood stoves around here, so I’ve only actually seen one once. Love the imagery of your poem.
