My dear friend, maid of honor in my wedding, and first roommate sent these lovely memories today, with a note card reminding me of what each was from. The letter is one written to me 42 years ago, but had not been sent. Until today.

What a sweet memory! 🙂 And that’s friendship, wow!!
Thank you for sharing this with us today.
Denise, what a beautiful gift. This is the kind of thing we read about in novels. ❤️
How absolutely lovely! You must have been so touched and I’m sure it was very unexpected. Wow, I’m amazed at the relationship between the two of you!
Beautiful memories. But why did she not send it to you earlier? I am glad she sent it.
Lakshmi, haha! She wondered the same thing! She was going through old things and found it.
How amazing, Denise – I can only imagine how much these memories and the 42-year-old letter mean to you. Priceless. Also – I want to thank you again for your rambling autobiography and the prompts; these inspired me to write my own, and it quickly became a celebration.
Oh my goodness! What a treasure. I love snail mail. I love letters. I write them all the time. In fact, I have a decades-long letter writing relationship with my mother’s college roommate – and she tells me she has kept ALL of mine!
This is so special, Denise. Thank you for sharing!
What a wonderful surprise, Denise. Your small poem is lovely.
What a treasure of a letter! You must have gone right back in time, to read of your friendship some 42 years ago – wow. Just lovely! How sweet of her to send it to you. I love these two lines so much:
You helped me find myself,
And I was never the same.
